Aja Cooper

Aja fell in love with writing at age 12 while stationed with her family in Iwakuni, Japan. She saw it as an activity of leisure, not as her purpose. Overtime she began to write poetry everyday but to her they were still just words. Her peers found her poems to be inspiring and looked forward to her writing more however she still just saw it as a hobby. It wasn’t until returning to the states, she was called on to read a poem at her home church, New Life Family Worship Center of Jacksonville, NC, that she truly grew up in her writing and saw that this wasn’t just something she coincidentally knew how to do… it was her purpose. Hesitant about writing a poem for the church, a church mother put her check like only an elder can and told her that she had a gift that many other people would love to have. She sternly expressed to Aja that God had given her a talent and she needed to use it. It was then that Aja began to seek God and truly put Him first realizing that these words weren’t to be kept between her and her friends for their sheer “enjoyment”.

She is currently a student at University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Aja Cooper has matured in her writing and has a stronger relationship with God than she had at age 12. She aspires to use the words God has given her to be a blessing to everyone who hears and reads them. She especially desires to reach out to the young generation and encourage them that even when having a relationship with God doesn’t seem like the cool thing to do at a young age, it’s the most incredible thing they can do. This is only the first of many publications God has placed in this young woman. She will continue to write as her Father directs her and she prays that her words minister to someone who’s read them and at all times bring God glory!
